Revolution 2020 - Book Review

                                                                     REVOLUTION 2020
Topic: Book Review

Author: Chetan Bhagat

How Thick:
No. Of Pages: 296

Synopsis:

The book Revolution 2020, written by the famous writer of all time, Chetan Bhagat, who is also the writer of the books ‘2 States’, and ‘A Night @ the Call Center’ is a massive hit, according to me.
The book has a beautiful concept – as the cover says it – ‘Love. Corruption. Ambition’. Those words sum up everything in the book. The beginning of the book is flawless, as it should be; because the beginning is the factor that draws oneself to read further. It starts with the present, and then goes back all the way to the past. Memories flash back in the narrator’s mind, and everything is precisely described.

The book describes the city ‘Varanasi’ so beautifully that one can picture it and feel as if he/she’s present there at the moment. It made me feel like Varanasi is the most soothing sight in the whole of India. It fulfills one more purpose – knowledge. One really gets to know a lot of things about Varanasi and entrance exams too!

The story revolves around the lead character – Gopal Mishra, who faces almost every grief in life. The thing he needed the most at that moment, a good grade to enter a good college, was something he was deprived of. On the first try, he failed badly while his best friend, Raghav got a great rank to be entered in a good college. Gopal was sent to Kota by his father to give that exam a second try. According to him, he was doing pretty well but fate didn’t have it and he failed again. He was gifted a rough slap from his beloved father who was now in debts because of the loans he took to make Gopal attend the tuitions. But the root reason for Gopal to fail was his grief of losing the girl he loved the most, wanted the most – Aarti, who paired up with Gopal’s own best friend, Raghav Kashyap. He was so taken aback that he lost his senses and started drinking. But he obviously couldn’t tell ‘Baba’ – his father about this.

From all the worst things that could’ve happened, he soon found his father lying cold and limp on his bed. He was dead.

Moreover, people from whom his father had taken the loan were now threatening him. He had no reason to live for.

But then he met Sunil, and his life changed. Revolution 2020 was the name of the newspaper started by Raghav which distorted Gopal’s public-image.

Read the book to find out how Gopal soared high skies.

Overall, the book was thrilling, and had a totally unexpected ending! I can’t help but admit that it’s my favorite book!

Status of The Book: A Must-Read!! =)

On That Windowsill...

On that windowsill...
Stood a girl, so long ago,
that's the farthest I remember.

She used to stare at the Tulips,
In a motherly way
And I'd pass from her window, every day
She would always ignore me
while I used to think, 'what for does she do that?, not a carol of glee'

There was a day I found her outside, and yes, I was shocked,
I asked her if she was alright,
'Mind your own business!' she then mocked.
That clearly wasn't polite,
but I had to make her, somehow alright.

One day I heard she was sick, she could hear the time fly, tick-tick
When I gathered some guts and asked her if she was well,
anyway, I knew she wouldn't tell.

I saw that saddened smile on her lips,
when she whispered, 'the Tulips'
Within seconds I found myself staring out the windowsill,
'Oh no!' I exclaimed, it was autumn, the Tulips had a spill !

As time took hold, Spring at last arrived,
'I Love Tulips', on a stone she inscribed.
When she finally peeked out the window, the Tulips stood high!
We both organised a small feast, she made an apple pie!

But the very next morning, she packed her bags...
I saw her go out
I couldn't really figure out, what all this was about.
I waited for her through the day, stared at the shining hay

But my breath just stopped there and then,
When I noticed, the clock struck 10!
I believed, she had gone only to come back tomorrow
Because so much knowledge, from her, I had to borrow.

Sometimes fate slaps you hard,
and leaves you acting like a retard.

Of course, she was my best friend.
But no, I never saw her again.

Let's get to the core of a Name! =)

THE DEEP AND HILARIOUS STORY BEHIND A NAME

I've seen some people criticizing their parents saying they don't like their name, or that they want to change it. I don’t know why do people think like that; their parents would never give them a name with silly meanings. They think real hard to choose one name from a million options, and their children dump their hard work into the trash. Every name has a story behind it, a deep meaning behind it. And so does mine.

Since I was a little kid, people have been asking me for the meaning of my name. Not many people have this name – Kriti. Though there would be thousands of people with that name but in my social circle, to my own shock, I don’t know any Kriti.
It’s a fact that you hate your own name, but if someone else has the same name as yours, a monster inside you rings the bells. You want that person to change her/his name because you term it as your copyright, isn’t it?

So finally, let’s come to the main thing. What does my name really mean? According to me, it means ‘A Creation’. Such a cool meaning for a person like me. I mean, I’m surrounded by an ocean of creations! I make paintings, I write songs, short stories, I play the Piano, shoot videos, and a lot of such things. ‘Holy Lord such an accurate name for me!’, I sometimes think. I have always been proud of my name, and always will be. I know that’s too much appreciation for a name but like it is, I really am proud of it. It’s like Heaven had chosen this name for me already!

My mom often says that people’s names affect their life a lot. That happens, and yeah, it happened with me too, but seldom do people accomplish the condition behind their name. For instance, I’ve seen people making horrendous chaos while their name means ‘Peace’! That’s just a mere co-incidence! I don’t believe that your name can restrict or allow anything you do. It’s the capability in you. Like the famous ancient writer Kabir wrote in one of his literary pieces, that people with rich names are often poor, and the ones with poorer names are richer.

Here’s a kind of a small tribute to my name which I came up with just now:

Hey, creation! Is that your name?
Did you know that your fans just came?
Come’ on the stage, are you game?
They’re screaming out your name,
And only you’re to blame.
There’s glitter in their eyes ‘cause of the pieces you create.
Hey, creation! Isn’t that just the same?
As the one which is your real name!
Oh – so I got it, your name is Kriti,
Did you paint that? Urgh, your hands got greasy!
Don’t be shy, don’t get uneasy!
That crowd just loves you,
This is the chance for you to do!
Do what you’ve been waiting for,
Chase your dreams, imitate the lions, scream ‘Rawr!”
Hey, creation! Is that your name?

Just get ready, let’s play the game. ;)

This post is the reply for an IndiSpire question in Indiblogger, asked by Narasimha Sharma Veturi. The question was:
'What does your name mean to you? Do you like it or hate it?'

A great song; a great video - Demons by Imagine Dragons. There's a special entry in this piece, and you may look around for ghosts creeping along! Mirrors- Justin Timberlake Cover

Mirrors is a heart-touching song written and sung by the famous singer Justin Timberlake. This song has been                      dedicated to the love story of Justin's grandparents - William and Sadie.
                                                              R.I.P Sir William.
I know I've not sung this song so perfectly, but the main thing is the Piano backing.
                                                                      Enjoy =)

Love Story - Andy Williams Cover

Love Story is a beautiful theme song from the movie 'Love Story' itself, composed by Andy Williams. I made                                     a cover for this song on my mom's kinda 'humble' request. :p
                                                                Take the pleasure! =)

Spring Day Cherry Blossoms And You - Epitone Project Cover

Spring Day, Cherry Blossom, and You is a really cute, sweet, simple, and soothing tune by The Epitone Project. I can't help but call it a MUST hear. It just gets stuck in your head and draws you towards itself                                                                    once you hear it.
I hope I played it well enough! =)

The Crowded Room - Kriti Chandel (Own Composition)

I write many songs, poetry and all that but The crowded Room was the very first song that I wrote and          composed ALL on MY OWN. I really hope it's not that bad because I've worked real hard on this.
                                                                              Enjoy! =)

Greensleeves

Greensleeves was composed in the late 1580s by Henry VIII for Anne Boleyn and I thought to make a                                                             cover for this enchanting melody.

Caprice No. 24

Caprice no. 24 is a classic hit of the olden times, composed by the great Niccolo Paganini. This piece is also                     present in the Grade 1 examination course of the Trinity College of London.
I hope it would help! =)

The Memory - Mayday Parade

I made a cover on one more of Mayday Parade's songs - The Memory. Another massive hit by a massive                                                             band. Enjoy the fullest! =)

Miserable At Best - The Mayday parade Cover :)

Miserable at best is a beautiful song sung by a beautiful band - Mayday Parade. I thought to make a cover for it because the song is entirely decorated by the sound of a Piano.

I hope you like it! =)

Hey guys, so I'm here with my cover of the song "Someone Like You" by the singer, Adele.

It's Five To Friday

Here's another thrilling story for y'all !

                                  IT'S FIVE TO FRIDAY

It was a dark night - like nights are supposed to be. But that night was unusually dark. An eerie perfume flew with the wind.
Even the flowers smelt foul. The chalice-like Tulips had drooped. The moon was high up in the sky, spreading its shimmering light all around.
The garden outside Nate Wright's window looked calm and beautiful in the moonlight. But little did he know that something was secretly going on around him - maybe against him.

Nate was never afraid of anything because since childhood, he had a habit of living without his parents, being in a hostel. Now that he was 27, he lived with just one company - his dog, Scuff, who was young and active.
He had brought Scuff to somewhat reduce his loneliness in his big mansion. Yes, that's right - he lived in a mansion. No doubt he earned pretty well. Although Scuff was sometimes a big headache, Nate loved him a lot.
Nate was just afraid of one thing - howling or hooting noises. People called him weird because of that but only he knew what he had gone through. Every time he heard a dog howling, a painful memory of his brother Owen's death came back with a keener sting.

It was just another usual Friday. Same old annoying boss at office, same old loud scuff.

That was the very night, when something freaky was going on under Nate's big mansion - with him being totally unaware. Scuff was getting restless, and he only did that when he was either hungry or scared. The circumstances and chances both pointed towards the latter.

"Five people from the SoulBells road have already been MISSING! Alerts have been-" Shouted the huge, sharp-voiced reporter on the T.V. when Nate changed the channel in boredness.
"Same missing people's news all over! So boring, ain't it, Scuff?" Nate asked Scuff as if he would understand.

    "Woof! Woof!" Was its reply.

"Let's go to sleep, buddy!" Nate carried Scuff to the bedroom.
Nate was too tired to stay awake anymore, so he drifted off to sleep seconds after going to bed.

It was still dark when Scuff got up from his sleep, because he heard a noise downstairs. He ran down the over-sized, well-polished staircase, barking his lungs out which woke Nate up. Nate annoyingly chased him and complained, "Scuff! It's just 3 A.M. Boy!"

Scuff ignored his call and headed where the voice led him. The intensity of the voice was too low to be heard by a human being. But then, as they went closer to the basement, the voice got louder. Loud enough to burst the hardest eardrums.
But Nate didn't seem to care about the loudness of it, because he was already shaken, facing the only fear of his life - howling.
It was as if a thousand werewolves were howling; so loud as if it was the last time they were ever howling.
Scuff was automatically hypnotized and he followed them - he started howling as well. It was for the first time that Nate wanted to rip scuff to shreds.
But  to his own shock, Nate wasn't screaming, he wasn't scared anymore. It was because he felt a familiar warmth engulfing him.
A human-like figure appeared just from somewhere inside the smoke.

Nate couldn't see its face, but he could sense it smiling, calling him closer. As soon as the moonlight fell over the figure's face, Nate's mouth dropped open.

   "Owen?" Nate observed him closely.

"Brother - I've committed so many sins to come to meet you." The figure whispered in a meek voice. It was Owen, Nate's late brother.

   "What sins?"

"I had to kill five people to land on Earth."

As soon as Owen said this, a memory from that disturbing news channel flashed in Nate's mind.

   Five People Missing.

Florigance!

So it's my first story in this blog! I wrote it almost a month ago, but, here it is. #Enjoy!

                                  Florigance

Ages ago, there was a huge, beautiful, but isolated city – Florigance. Flowers were the main content; there wasn't one road or yard without flowers. It was like a dream-city one would always love to travel to. It was too amazing to be real, but after all, it was.
It didn't have a very high population and all that, because it was a distant place outsiders rarely ever got to see. Maybe that was the very reason it wasn’t exploited. Less people, less garbage, less pollution, less everything. People there seemed almost unreal, because in this world of evil, that seemed to be the only place with kind people. It was a sight to soothe sore eyes. It was too hard to believe there could be a place like that.
But no one ever knows when everything can go upside down, and take a turnover. That place did take a turnover. Winter was pleasant every year. But as winter prevailed in 1816, it brought hell along.
The beautiful flowers hung loose, the high peaks seemed to die, the frost covered everything in its cold blanket. The place almost died.
It was frozen.
People were too scared to go out to even buy food, because the wind had something in it, which probably didn’t suit anyone of them.
They could’ve gathered courage, but it was the contrary.
Even the shopkeepers left the town. The bad got worse.
All they were left with was Hope.

If someone would ever gather a bit of courage, people would just discourage him.
But in the end, hope never loses.

Steve White, he stood; stood for the good.
All people would say to him was “You’re going to die someday!” or “I’ve never seen a fool like you!”
People – they always have to say something to discourage oneself. But one does not always gets discouraged; yes, I’m referring to Steve.
People were right in some way, like they say, ‘Never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you.’ But on the other hand, Florigance was on stake.
He opened a shop, selling groceries. He did deliveries on his own, because no one would ever help him. It only made him stronger, his decision righter.
From all the worst that could’ve ever happened, he ran out of money. People stopped buying from him. I still can’t figure out why. But yes, they did.
Trouble had finally knocked. And in their culture, one doesn’t kick someone who’s on the doorstep. He had to face the worst now.
He waited. Waited with the little bit of things he was left with. That’s when I first saw the city.
If a door closes, its force opens four. So if the intensity of the trouble is big, it should only make you stronger.
And a door really did open for Steve.

He sat there, staring at a distance; at the fog coming out of nowhere. He saw a man appear just from somewhere between the fog. All in black. He rubbed his eyes to see if the man was coming his way. He stared in disbelief.
The man in black, whose face couldn’t be seen because of the huge hat he wore, finally arrived the shop.
Steve just couldn’t believe someone finally came.
“Hey, are you new here? Never seen you before.”  Steve started to talk. The man looked calm, but replied in an irritated tone, “I want 20 loafs of bread.” He didn’t care enough to answer his question.
Steve had never seen such a rude guy in Florigance ever before. He was probably new.
“What? Did you say 20?” Steve asked for reassurance in his meek voice.
“Didn’t you hear it?” The rude man replied.
“I’m really sorry, sir. But I don’t have 20.” Steve began to panic, “I recently ran out of money –”
Steve was only explaining his situation when the man cut him and said, “Give me all you got.”
Steve did what he was told.
“You can keep this.” The man said, handing him an over-stuffed wallet.
“Sir? The bread only makes 2 dollars. Why all this?” Steve pretended to be concerned but he was now ecstatic wondering if he would let him keep the money.
“Sometimes people deserve more than they think they do.” The man said while lifting his head up. His lips curved into a smile and he left without saying any other word.
Steve was overwhelmed with emotion. A teardrop made its way out of his shiny, beautiful, green eyes and trickled down his cheek.
All he could utter was, “Is it a dream?”

I was wearing black that day, too. Was it me?

She's a Woman. She's Strong.

So Monday's my math exam, but I still took some time to make this painting today. I was in real hurry so it's not that great but I gave it my best. Really, gave it all I had. I've drawn a face for the first time ever, so I hope you to ignore the flaws. Have a nice day!

Come Out - Women's Day Special

Hey friends so this is a new song I specially wrote for the special event of women's day. I'd like to summarize these lyrics for y'all.
It's about a woman, on one side of the earth, who's trying to encourage another woman on the other side of the world, to come out of her crippled life.
Actually one can see this from another perspective too. Like the whole women society is encouraging one of themselves to power up, so they don't get weakened. That's why she says, "You're my strength, don't make me weak." This shows that even if one of the women weakens, they'll all go down.
      I hope you'll like it. #Respect #Spread #Love #Womanhood

                                               Women’s Day Special
                                                        Come Out
You’re standing at your window,
Did they come & see ya?
No, no.
I’m standing for ya.
On the other side of this sphere.
But are you getting weaker?
No, no.

C’mon spread your wings,
They are made to fly
Don’t you kill your time, get up! Come out,
Out of that corner, let the world see ya !
Is it grief or glee yeah ?
Come out.

Don’t just, stare at the world,
Feel it in your bones.
Let the cold air, make your hair fly…
Feel the rough coat, of the bark of the trees.
Feel yourself glow, in the sun
Don’t just hide…

Come out! of that hibernation,
Show yourself instead, to the whole nation
Break the glass, jump out the window,
Land in the snow…
This world is yours, throw the blade away.
Dance in the rain, you’re my strength
Don’t make me weak

We are the same,
Humanity lies in our hearts
I’m the hope! You’re the strength
Let’s group together, forever…

Don’t let ’em let you down
You’re supposed to shine in the town

So come on, get out.
Spread your wings,
You have to thrive
To make me survive
They’re made to fly
Don’t you give up

Just talk to me, and fight with your life.

You’re standing at your window
I’m waiting for you,
 To come out…

Open the door,

And just come out...
