Out of all the books that I have read, this is the only one that
left me hanging the most, at huge, HUGE cliff-hangers, and that explains why I
had to finish reading this book in like three days.
What had me lingering the most was that particular type of
plot where people die one by one in a group, and you can keep guessing who the
murderer is. I’m SO into crime novels, and I only realised it after I read this
one.
The way that the story goes about, following the nursery
rhyme of the soldiers, had me in awe, because the murders were so flawlessly
planned by the author, as if coming from an actual mastermind. I felt as if I was
there, present, among the characters on the lone island, and I mentally
connected to them so much, that when they died in the story it left me all
flabbergasted and everything, like it would have in real life. The author
honestly couldn’t have written it any better.
Just when I finished reading, I had this urge to watch a
movie based on it, just to see how it would look, and luckily I found this mini
TV-series that was actually based on this book (by the same name). But then
again, the way I felt the suspense in the book, it was incomparable to any
other footage or photograph. Agatha Christie really put a lot of brain into it,
and it worked out miraculous.
So, no spoilers this review! Because it would be the best
experience ever when you find out who the murderer really was.
